Hare and Tortoise race into Chiswick

Just like the well-known fable their restaurants are named after, the people behind the Hare and Tortoise had to race to secure the latest premises in their expanding chain.

The acquisition of a leasehold site in Chiswick High Road means the operator now has six restaurants across central and west London.

“In the children’s story, the slow but sure tortoise beats the headstrong hare in a race. But speed was just as important as determination when it came to landing this desirable leasehold,” says Richard Negus of licensed leisure specialists AG&G, who represented the vendors.

“It’s a prime site in a fashionable part of town and will complement the restaurateur’s other premises in Bloomsbury, Ealing, Putney, Kensignton and Blackfriars very nicely.”

Hare and Tortoise restaurants have earned a loyal following in London for their reasonably-priced, freshly-prepared sushi, noodle and Asian-influenced dishes.

Their new Chiswick property comprises a fully-fitted restaurant and first-floor flat. They paid a premium for the leasehold interest, which runs until June 2023.
