Olde Swan Hotel is definitely worth a gander

The Olde Swan Hotel in Chertsey is that rare bird – a licensed property that is likely to appeal just as much to pub operators as developers.

“Anyone looking for a well-placed restaurant, hotel or conversion opportunity should give the Olde Swan serious consideration,” says James Grimes of licensed leisure specialists AG&G, who is dealing with the sale of the freehold.

“As well as being an attractive listed building steeped in history, it’s a good-sized commercial property in a popular Surrey commuter town close to the M25.  The Olde Swan just needs the right buyer to fulfil its potential.”

The three-story property in the Chertsey Conservation Area is close to the centre of this historic Thames-side town, which has a population of around 16,000. Originating from 1595, when it was known as the White Swan, this Grade II-listed former coaching inn and post house was the birthplace of artist William Dantell.

Today it offers a split-level ground floor trading area, with customer WCs and trade kitchen, plus eight en-suite bedrooms – seven on the first floor and one on the second floor. There is also two-bed manager’s accommodation on the ground floor, a covered trade terrace to the side, a beer cellar and further storage area on the third floor. Outside there is an outbuilding and parking for approximately 10 cars.

The floor space is around 560 square metres (6,031 square feet) in total, while the site area is approximately 910 square metres (9,797 square feet). The Olde Swan Hotel is currently licensed from 7am to 1am Sunday to Thursday and until 2am on Friday and Saturday. It is for sale freehold with vacant possession off a guide price of £775,000.
